Lecturer Water management, researcher, management River Delta Development

I am inspired by river system developments that combine increasing water safety with creating options for many other functions that add to the beauty and wellness in an area. I enjoy involving the ideas and capacities of students in innovative ways, and creating function combinations and understanding between different stakeholders based on a proper understanding of the system.

"I support the development of students into facilitators that create understanding by combining their own knowledge with that of partners and stakeholders."

After a master’s degree in geotechnics and a PhD on salinization mechanisms in polders, I co-developed the specialisations of land and water management and hydraulic/geotechnical engineering. Later we developed the minor Sustainable River Management together with HAN University of Applied Sciences and became a research project leader within the lectorate. In 2018 I developed Master River Delta Development together with my colleagues from HZ University and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

"Developing this Master was almost like a living lab, bringing different cultures and expertise together and blending this into a coherent program that will enable students to help solve the big issues of today's delta life."
