What strategic decisions have to be made in order to develop a well running terminal with high profits in five years time?

Approach

Each group had to make changes in the terminal for each year in an Excel sheet. After 5 years, certain criteria had to be accomplished. Many aspects had to be considered like; design, equipment, strategy, utilization and personell. Each group had to convince a board consisting of 5 people before the changes are implemented. This board decided if these changes will be approved. That’s why it is important to justify why you want the changes and explain how you came to it. The board also gave advice on how to improve the terminal for the following years and asked questions about the terminal.

Result

The result of this game is an overview of each year with information and graphs showing how successful the terminal is. Aspects like profits, utilization rate, yearly throughput and peak factor are showed in this results. The group with the best results won this game and received the highest grade.
