The Hetch Hetchy system in San Francisco

We started in groups and made a problem analyses of this deltacity (in my case San Francisco). After a couple of weeks we had to split up and each of us had to write their own research proposal about one of the water related problems in the city. I chose for the effects of erosion on the vulnerable watersupply system (the Hetch Hetchy System).

Approach

We started with a problem analyses consisting of a spatial analyses, watersystem analyses and stakeholders analyses. These analyses were summarized and this led us to five main water related problems in the city. I chose for the effects of erosion on the vulnerable watersupply system (Hetch Hetchy System). After rewriting the problem analyses focused on this problem, I formulated the main research question and sub-questions, defined the research and wrote the methodology.

Result

This research proposal is a request to implement a study that will produce a model that shows where which adjustments must be realised in the Hetch Hetchy system to withstand the consequences of erosion, caused by climate change. This study can be used for the further implementation and realisation of these adjustments and hereby expand the lifespan of this Watersupply system.
